Black Bottle Smoke & Dagger is a Scotch blended whiskey that features typical Islay smoke, caramel and spice aromas. There is also black pepper on the palate, and the finish is long and slightly spicy.

Brand History

Black Bottle is a blended Scotch whiskey bottled by Burn Stewart Distillers. The brand was founded in 1879 and was first produced by Aberdeen tea blenders Charles, David and Gordon Graham. After many years of decline caused by a distillery fire and subsequent business sale, Black Bottle was revived in 1990 with a new blend using Islay single malt whisky. The Black Bottle was actually sold in a black bottle until 1914. Black glass bottle supplies were imported from Germany and had to be abandoned after the outbreak of the First World War. Since then, the non-vintage bottle has been dark green, but the 10-year and now-discontinued 15-year bottles are covered in black plastic, giving the appearance of a truly black bottle.
