Dziti Madzia (b. 1961) is a famous Chinese poet, artist and calligrapher. He is originally from the Nuosu (otherwise known as the Yi) people, who live mainly in southwest China, in the provinces of Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan. Nuosu people number around 7-8 million. They have their own ancient language and script belonging to the Tibeto-Burmese family. Dziti Madzia writes in Chinese, but uses Nuosu mythology and folklore in his poems, tells their history, describes their existence and customs. His first poetry collection in Georgian was published in 2017 under the name "Songs of Nuosu" (Saunje publishing house) and also contains more than 80 poems translated by Shota Iatashvili. The present collection is very different from "Songs of Nuosu": this time it includes three poems of the author - three important, landmark texts, and these works show us the diversity of his poetic aesthetics and themes in a new, interesting way.
