The whiskey has a classic refined, rather soft, balanced and harmonious taste, full of delicious notes of honey, dried fruit and flowers. The taste is velvety, sweet, with light peat nuances.
The history of the company dates back to 1882, when two friends, who sell alcohol and groceries, had the idea to start their own whiskey production. James White and Charles McKay were far-sighted managers, so they initially exported whiskey - the domestic market had long been fragmented and it was extremely difficult for newcomers to break through. A small factory in the highlands with hired staff and blenders operated steadily, and White and McKee established connections with markets in the US, Canada and Australia. During World War I, whiskey production was halted and resumed only after the abolition of prohibition in the United States, which was Whyte & Mackay's main market at the time. But in the 1930s, the company began to develop rapidly and acquired 4 more distilleries in the highlands. And since 1944, he began to actively explore the British domestic market, opening his headquarters in Glasgow. In 1960, the company's management signed a merger agreement with Mackenzie Brothers. The combined company was named Dalmore-Whyte & Mackay Ltd. The Dalmore distillery produced the single malt whiskey while Whyte & Mackay continued to blend. In 1975, the company hired the talented Richard Patterson as chief technologist and began to expand the range.
