Annotation

Mr. Sommer, with an empty backpack and a strange stick in his hand, will walk from village to village with a quick step, without saying a word, he will stumble like a ghost in the forest or in the field, in the dreams of a little boy. When the little boy stops climbing trees, the mysterious Mr. Sommer disappears. Patrick Süskind was born in 1949 in Ambach, Bavaria. He studied history in Munich and Aix-en-Provence and initially wrote screenplays. His monodrama The Double Bass was published in 1984, his novel Perfume in 1985, The Pigeon in 1987 and The Story of Mr. Sommer in 1991 (with illustrations by Sampe). His works have been translated into more than fifty languages. French cartoonist Jean-Jacques Sampe (1932–2022) was first published in L'Express, and since 1978 he has published hundreds of cartoons in the New Yorker. His work is closely related to René Gossini, Modiano and Patrick Ziuskind. Without him, such characters as Little Nicola, Catherine, Little Dancer and Mr. Zomer would be unthinkable.
