Description

The wine is Kvevri Non-Interventional, produced by Jane Okruashvili, the sister of Johnny Okruashvili, the producer of Okro Wine. Fermented with indigenous yeasts. For 7 months, they are kept in leather-sealed pitchers, after which the wine is transferred to another pitcher for aging. The wine is vinified and bottled without any sulphites and has a deep, luminous amber color, a very rich and powerful aroma, with some caramel, some wild honey, light nutty tones and a hint of aromatic wild herbs. The wine is dry, with a rather firm taste, a focus of spices and a rather strong aroma, with light aromatic herbal tones and a hint of apple. The wine is noticeably structured with high acidity and fairly tight tannins. The finish is lively and long, with spicy red apple, floral tones, some dried herbs, a resinous character and a rough, intense aroma of acetic acid. The taste is clean and pleasant.

Brand History

In 2004, Johnny Okruashvili founded "Okro Wine". He has 5.5 hectares in Kakheti, near the town of Sighnaghi, and uses traditional pitchers to make wine. John cultivates his vineyards organically, without pesticides or herbicides, and the wine is made without sulfur or other additives. On his small estate, Johnny grows an impressive variety of grapes, including the familiar (Rkatsiteli, Green, Saperavi) and the less familiar (Budeshuri, Tsolikouri and Tavkveri). His wines are impressively clean, pristine and stable, with a noticeable elegance and lightness of touch.
