Brand History

The story of the birth of Shackleton whiskey is truly unique: this drink actually connects the times and takes us back in time to the beginning of the 20th century, the time of amazing discoveries. Then, back in 1907, the British Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton went on an expedition to the South Pole with his team on the ship "Nimrod". To keep the spirit of the participants of the arduous journey, Mr. Shackleton ordered 25 cases of malt whiskey from Mackinlay's, a well-known producer of those years. The idea of creating Shackleton whiskey came only after the research results answered all the questions about the origin of the whiskey found. Chemist James Pride and world-renowned blender Richard Patterson discovered that the drink was bottled at the Glen Mhor distillery. The strength of the alcohol, the ingredients from which it was made, the characteristics of the fermentation of the wort and the type of barrels in which the alcohol was matured also became known. A few years later, Richard Patterson recreated the legendary centuries-old drink by combining malt spirits from several distilleries in the Scottish Highlands.
