The history of this unique whiskey begins in 1830, when Samuel Gelston opened his wine and whiskey business in the prosperous port of Belfast and successfully developed it throughout Ireland until 1869. In the same year Harry J. Neil acquired the right to produce Gelston's and for five generations now the whiskey has remained in the hands of the Neil family, who in the founder's tradition produce whiskey of an exclusively high quality.
