Brand history

In 1840, the pro-Hellenic King Otto decided to move the capital of Greece to Athens in order to fulfill his dream of restoring the 2,000-year-old, 8,000-person city to its former glory. Under the shadow of the Acropolis, in the cobbled streets of the old city of Plaka, King Otto laid the foundations of the new Athens. It was then that Johannes Wohr created the first vermouth at the request of King Otto, to honor the ancient Greek tradition and celebrate the new era.
