In 1994, I, Irakli Charkvian, Lado Burduli and several other musicians gathered in the Svan Song recording studio in Cologne. Svan Song - Irakli's first album, and Svan was Irakli's pre-King alter ego. All the songs of the album are hits today, but then we were very worried - for the first time we were invited to Europe, to a serious studio. It was an incredible project at the time. After that, I stayed in Cologne for another month with Luka Lasareishvili, and then I hitchhiked to Paris. Gela Tsuladze had a studio in Paris, where his older brother and my friend Luka Tsuladze lived. Before Cologne, Irakli and I had already visited Berlin together, where we performed at the Literary House on Mayakovsky Square. We specially translated some poems into German for the speech. It was these poems and two translations that Gela and I turned into a book, which we put together in a 48-page notebook in the style of a collage with the drawings of the German artist Maurice Gotze. Last year, after Luca's death, Gela brought the entire archive from Paris. He found this notebook then and handed it over to me. I was very happy: this is one of my first poems, and it describes the Tbilisi of the 90s well. As for the name of the book - Nostalgia, it is a response to the film by Ineke Smith and Tato Kotetishvili. It was shot exactly in the 90s - throughout the picture I read poems and in the background of documentary footage I tell what was happening in Georgia and mainly in Tbilisi.
