Description

The basis of the Metaxa recipe is a distillate made from three varieties of grape wines: Sultanina, Savatiano and Black Corinth. After distillation, spirits are poured into small limousine French oak barrels, where they are aged from 3 to 30 years, depending on the type of cognac. Mature spirits are mixed with fine Muscat wines, extracts of May rose petals and Mediterranean herbs, which give the drink smoothness and richness; The mixture is then placed in large oak barrels for six months. Before bottling, cognac is cooled for two days and filtered, which makes the drink resistant to sedimentation.
