Mechanical distance meter, binoculars

This is a 10X50 mechanical rangefinder. With accurate measurement, an object located at 1000 meters appears as if it is located at 114 meters. The lens of each eye is adjusted individually. On the right side there is a built-in compass that shows degrees. Also on the right side is the MEL system, which stands for Measurement-Evaluation-Learning. With this system, the distance is measured without any electronic assistance. Looking at the right side you will see the MEL units

1. Measurement: Place the object you are observing into the MEL unit. For example, we look at the opponent's BMP1, and its height falls within exactly one MEL. This is Measurement. We measured the enemy's BMP and his height was placed exactly within 1 MEL. 2. Evaluation: The height of a BMP is 2 meters, the height of a standard one-story military camp is 5 meters, and so on. You can quickly and easily find the height and width of many of these objects when needed. If we measure the distance to an object whose height or width we do not know, then we ourselves subjectively determine how tall the object is. For example, if we look at the 5-story "Khrushovka", we can logically assume that it will be 20 meters high. 3. Understanding: If we put exactly 1 BMP in MEL, on the scale on the left side of the binoculars, where it says Angle, we will place one near the magic triangle and see the result. (see last picture). We will see that if our object is 2 meters in height, then it is located exactly 200 meters from us. If, instead of BMP, we measured a standard one-story military building with a height of 5 meters and that building was surrounded by one MEL, then it would turn out that this building is 500 meters away from us. Total top of the scale (0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.6, etc.). stands for MEL. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and so on is the size of the object (height or length, depending on how we measure). And the lower one (140, 200, 300, etc.) is a distance indicator. Once we put the MEL in the right place, everything else takes care of itself. The binoculars also have a degree indicator as seen in the last picture. From the binoculars you get not only the information about how far the object is, but also the exact direction it is from you. Therefore, if you know your location, then calling and adjusting artillery fire is the easiest. If, for example, you are tracking an object at night, in this case, to find out the degrees, you need to press the only button on the top of the binoculars, which lights up the degree indicator in red. The red color is also specially selected: it takes about 30 minutes for the eye to get used to the darkness at night. Any close lighting except for red light reduces the ability of the eye to see in the dark, and it becomes necessary to go out for another half hour. So, in the case of these binoculars, this factor is also calculated. The distance can be measured with binoculars up to 5000 meters.
