Brand History

In 1715, Jean Martel, a young businessman from Jersey, started his own business in Cognac, on the banks of the Charente River, and founded one of the oldest cognac houses. After his death in 1753, first his wife and then Martell's sons and grandsons continued the work Martell started and exported the product, making Martell the number one cognac in England by 1814. In 1831, Martel produced the first cognac VSOP and continued to export it to the international market. The drink became famous worldwide and gained great recognition.
