Kikkerland founder Jan van der Lande tells us how he went from supplying his Dutch brand of bicycles to importing them worldwide. Jan van der Lande started selling larks and lamps in the late 1980s with his designer friends. To deliver products to customers, he himself rode his bicycle through the streets. At first, van der Lande worked on things in his houseboat on the Hudson River. And then, along with the expansion of the business, he acquired new employees and opened a real office. Little by little, with the help of friends, he established contact with many creative designers in different cities around the world and opened Kikkerland branches in many countries. Today, Kikkerland produces about 300 products a year, and each one is created with amazing creativity. Van der Lande still lives on his boat and cycles to Kikkerlands Manhattan office every day, just like a true Dutchman.
