Chivas Regal Extra is a blended Scotch blend whiskey containing Oloroso Sherry cask matured malt whisky. The taste and aroma of the resulting drink is dark fruit and rich chocolate, balanced by herbal honey, spicy ginger and a touch of cigar box. Chivas Regal Extra 12 has a very rich taste and aroma that distinguishes it from Chivas Regal 12, it has a pleasant, velvety taste obtained from aging in sherry casks. It is a great digestif and goes well with a cigar.

Brand History

Chivas Brothers was founded in 1801 by two brothers, John and James Chivas. At first they sold many delicacies from all over the world, be it expensive coffees, spices, brandy, rum from the Caribbean region and more, but they could not find a whiskey in Scotland that met their standards, so they decided to create their own high quality whiskey with their own hands. The new drink spread to Scotland with lightning speed and was highly appreciated by the high society. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Chivas brothers decided to produce high-aged whiskey for export to the USA, where there was a great demand for luxury products due to the rapidly developing economy. This type of whiskey was called Chivas Regal 25 and was the leading brand of Scotch whiskey in the American market until prohibition came into effect in 1920. After the ban was lifted, Chivas returned to the American market under the name Chivas Regal 12. It became the style drink of the era. Today, the company is owned by Pernod Ricard and continues to actively produce whiskey.
