In 1890, engineer Vasili Bolgarski from Tbilisi (the Art-Villa Garikula is located in the Bolgarski Palace) arrives in Paris, tries to introduce Georgian sparkling wine to the most popular restaurants in the city at that time, and succeeds in doing so. According to surviving reports, "champagne" made in the village of Garikula was sold in Paris for years. In 2018, this 100-year history continued and sparkling wine production began in Garikula. The company produces both sparkling wine, as well as wine and patnats in the old French traditional method. As for the name and the label, the challenge when working on the Shapidon label was to synthesize history, content and design. The direction was indicated by the name of the sparkling wine. (author of the design - Natalya Avaliani) "Shapidon" is a word coined by Ilia Zdanevich, one of the founders of Zaumuri poetry and Dadaism. After the revolution, the Georgian artist, who was permanently refined in France, also created fabric patterns for Coco Chanel. His visual language made the Georgian accent heard in French culture and, under the influence of France, in the whole continent (the portrait of Firosman by Picasso also echoes this voice).
