The drink is a blend of five premium rum brands from three different Caribbean countries, creating a rich, complex flavor with its intense color and rich caramel and vanilla notes. Captain Morgan The Original Rum is blended according to an ancient rum recipe from Jamaica, Guyana and Barbados. After distillation, the rum is aged for at least two years in oak barrels.

Brand History

The Captain Morgan brand has a very interesting history - it was first created by the real pirate Henry Morgan, whose name terrorized the Caribbean. His piracy ended in 1671 when Spain and England signed a peace treaty, and in 1673 for his services to England he was appointed lieutenant governor of Jamaica, where he created the original recipe for a pirate drink. Today, the bulk of Captain Morgan's rum production is still carried out in Jamaica, where the highest quality distillate is obtained from selected Jamaican cane in continuous distillation columns. The resulting spirit is delivered to England, where the rum is aged in oak barrels.
