Virgil's "Bucolics" consist of ten eclogues (eclogue meaning "chosen"), they are united by a single mood, although several of them are clearly different from the pastoral songs and out of the general context. Eclogues are united by one measure - dactylic hexameter, all eclogues are arranged according to this measure. Virgil's "Bucolics" depict pastoral, pastoral life, the pain and suffering of being close to nature, daily trifles, poetic competitions, intimate love relationships. Although these eclogues are the earliest creations of the poet, here too, I think, the main merit of the work lies on the linguistic level. Obviously, the village and the moods of rural work and fun are very close to Virgil, but he does not attach much importance to all this, the main thing is to fill the line with energy and movement as much as possible, the main thing for him (unlike Theocritus, whose free translation of "Idylls" is often individual passages of "Eclogues" ) the connection of words, their attraction and repulsion, gvirist or varaqi... As for the Georgian translation, we especially want to point out that the absence of a verse meter corresponding to dactylic hexameter in the Georgian language creates a certain difficulty in the translation of ancient poetry; Artificial measures are very rarely justified, and the fourteen-syllable basic, which is used most often in translation, is completely inappropriate in this case in terms of intonation, it is accompanied by a completely different genre inertia. Although the seventeen-syllable measure we have chosen is conventionally consistent with the hexameter, there are still some things in common: it is also seventeen-syllable (in Greek-Latin, the long vowel ukadanso counts as two), the necessary choreta ends, and the number of cadences is mostly the same. And, most importantly, it does not remind us of other genres.
