However, it seems that he simply enjoyed an existing and well-established combination of vodka and tomato juice while working at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City in the 1940s.
According to the most common story, the Bloody Mary was created by Fernand Petiot in the 1920s. He was a bartender who worked in one of the bars in Paris - Harry's New York Bar. As it turned out, this drink was simply well and distinctly mixed vodka and tomato juice. The name of the cocktail is related to the Queen of England, Mary I, who is called Bloody Mary because of the brutal persecution against Protestants. But there are those who say it refers to a famous ghost.
