At the beginning of "All and Everything", Giorgi Gurdjieff notes that the purpose of the book is to show the reader, "destructively, mercilessly, without any compromise, the beliefs and ideas about everything in this world that have been rooted in the mentality and feelings of the reader for centuries."
The work uses the so-called A frame-based style of fictional writing – the musings and various stories of an extraterrestrial being, Beelzebub (who bears the name of the demon of the same name). Beelzebel tells his grandson Hossein about the news that happened to him, with whom he is traveling in space on the ship "Karnak" in the direction of his native planet (Karataz). Beelzebub describes in detail the stories, traditions, customs, culture and psychology of human beings.
History allegorically expresses the definition of human existence, condition and conditions perceived by the author in his own way. The protagonist of the work tells us about his many visits to Earth, where he formed certain views on humanity. This mentioned narrative of his is considered throughout the work as a kind of explanation of Mr. Gurdjieff's philosophical outlook. This book was intended for teaching Gurdjieff's "Fourth Way" as one of the main teaching tools.
