Architecture for children

The word "architecture" is of ancient Greek origin, it literally means "the mastery of construction" and is the same as the Georgian "architecture". However, the history of construction itself is much older than Greece or even Egypt. Architecture is almost as old as human civilization, since its purpose from the beginning was to create cultic and residential buildings and their surroundings. Archeology has made a great contribution to the discovery of ancient architectural monuments, because most of the old buildings have been covered with earth and sand over time. covered.

The purpose of some buildings is still unknown, so they are studied through different branches of science. Architecture itself is an artifact of its time. Building forms, construction materials, paintings and sculptures tell us about many things - what was the lifestyle, climate, economy, politics, etc. at the time of construction of this or that building.

Architects, i.e. architects, still have to solve various tasks while designing. With the development of technology, these tasks have become more complicated, but some things have remained unchanged - if the building is a residence, the requirements and characteristics of the people living in it should be taken into account. If the building is a cult, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of the cult.

Also, architects design agricultural, industrial and scientific buildings, the internal arrangement of the building (interior) and the environment of the building (landscape architecture). With the emergence of cities, architects began to design the amenities and functions of entire neighborhoods. 

Today, this field is called urban planning. Architects themselves were considered respected people from ancient times, their influence was equal to that of powerful priests. Human history has given us a rich architectural heritage in all corners of the world. Their diversity shows how rich the path of civilization is.

Eighteen projects were included in the book. We tried to touch on examples of different times and directions from the history of architecture, so that the projects were as diverse as possible. Hopefully, these eighteen projects will awaken readers' interest in world architectural heritage.
