The reason for the exile remains a mystery to this day, although the poet himself names his own poems as the first and undoubted reason, which caused him great passion.
Many opinions and hypotheses have been expressed regarding this issue, but this story is not completely clear, it still remains a mystery; Ovid is there condemned to live among the half-savage Sarmatians and Goths till the day of his death; His "Bile Elegies" and "Letters from Pontus" will be written there; These elegies are the pleading voice of the poet asking to return to his native land.
With the Pontic elegies ("Bile Elegies", "Letters from Pontus"), Ovid created a new, different type of stylistic poetry, which is no less similar to his previous works: this is a new genre, the theme of this genre of elegies is untested and unique for the literature of that time - loneliness .
