Calm Swimming is an autobiographical novel by Irakli Charkviani - the most outstanding work from his literary heritage. The novel tells about two main characters - the king and Rumi. Their lives develop in parallel, they are each other's alter egos. Their destinies seem to be intertwined and are the expression of two natures of one person. One is a constructive beginning, the other is a destructive one. We know about one, that this is Irakli Charkviani - the king. The second is the incarnation of the medieval Sufi, philosopher and poet - Rumi. The action takes place in two spaces - material and supra-material dimensions. If the historical-biographical part of the novel is unfolded in the material space, in the other dimension presented in the novel, the evil forces have planned to organize a conspiracy against the world. One of the participants in the conspiracy is Lenin, whose incarnation we see in the novel, as well as in the face of the evil force - the Xosa robot, von Kleine. This novel-confession of Irakli Charkviani is a kind of chronicle of our time, where many little-known facts from the Georgian political life of the latest period are included. The novel, with its surrealist aesthetics, seems to indicate an escape from the Soviet reality. In Georgian literature, the anti-utopian world can be found in its perfect form for the first time in peaceful swimming. In the immaterial dimension of calm swimming, there is a world where, thanks to the emissaries of evil, control over life is imposed - here everyone lives for 44 years, murder and suicide are encouraged, which is justified by the logic that they "do good" because the material world is actually transitory and eternity begins with the transition to another dimension.
