Description

Saperavi Pi - 2022 harvest, dry red wine made from 20-year-old single vineyard Saperavi grapes located in the village of Akura, Telavi, Kakheti region. For vintage 2022 green harvest operation was done 1.5 month before to an actual harvest (meaning: cutting unripe grape bunches for better ripening of the rest) to obtain high quality fruit. Fermentation process of wine was made by natural yeast (spontaneous fermentation), classic method, unfiltered, vegan, not processed. This wine seeks to express terroir, individuality, the place where it was grown and how it was made. Dark ruby color, with wonderful concentration of fruit, aromas of black fruits, pepper spice and chocolate. The palate is ripe and indulgent, framed gorgeously by well-judged tannins, balanced and harmonious long-lasting taste.

Winery Pi is small scale winery ( up to 7000 bottles) which was founded in 2020. However, the family has been making wine for decades since its descendants. Company’s name Pi ·π is linked to the most popular number in existence 3.14, as it can be found not only in nature, but also in human creations. “Wine is constant like the number Pi ·π.” Winery PI’s technology of winemakings was passed down to them through the generations. It involves the management of only natural processes of vinification which distinguishes the wine with a harmonious and balanced taste. Winery Pi owns vineyards located in Akura and Shilda. Winery PI’s goal is to produce high-quality handcrafted terroir wines that each year show individuality, reflect place, style and focus on development. Winery PI’s wines have already been awarded gold and silver medals at numerous international competitions and have been included in a prestigious publication such as The Guardian, Harpers Wine & Spirit, The Scotsman, The Evening Standard UK, Vinum Magazine, Wein Markt Magazine. Winery PI’s the main part of the wines is exported to Great Britain, Switzerland, Belgium and Germany.
