And again: the pseudo-legend of sublime love, which until recently hid the personal drama of the poet, was lifted...Galaktion's epoch-making book "Crâne aux fleurs artistiques" (1919) is the pinnacle of Georgian modernist poetry, which gave rise to qualitatively new poetic thinking and lyrical innovations. It was a deeply conscious attempt at the synthesis of Georgian-European cultures, a kind of hijra towards the West, which is revealed by the intertextual research of the masterpieces included in this collection.In the conditions of totalitarianism, Galaction was forced to write conjunctural poems. By paying a heavy tribute, he saved his genius for the nation and the country - forever erected a temple of poetry higher than the pyramids.The lyrics of Galaktion's last period, the poetics of difficult contention essentially determined the further development of Georgian poetry: all more or less notable stylistic trends from the middle of the twentieth century to the present are directly or indirectly connected to Galaktion's later lyrics.
