Brand History

Winery "Enken" was established in 2015. Winemaking was a traditional family activity. This is confirmed by the approximately 200-year-old pitchers in which Enken wines are made today. The cellar is located in Akhalterjola village, Terjol district. Tsitska, Tsolikouri, Dzelshavi and Tetri Kapistoni vineyards are planted here. Vineyard care is carried out by traditional methods and using contact poisons. The name "Enken" carries two symbolic meanings. First of all, it comes from the word "Enkenistve", which is the old Georgian name of the month of September, in which month the harvest begins in most parts of Georgia. The second symbolic load is directly related to the village of Akhalterjola and the forgotten tradition of this village. Every year, at the end of Enkeni, on September 26, the village celebrated the "Enkenoba" holiday, which was connected with the beginning of the harvest and the end of the main autumn work, the smoking and sheltering of Chirnakhi.
