Our paternal vineyard is planted in one of the best microzones of Baghdati, on top of the so-called Chali vineyards, on the northeastern slope, on the left bank of the Khanisqali river. Only the best quality grapes are selected for making natural wine, both from Bagdati and Obchi vineyards. The juice is obtained by self-flow, followed by weak pressing of the chacha. Fermentation and five-month aging were carried out in prehistoric hundred-year-old vats using the Imer method. Grape varieties used are - Tsitska, Tsolikouri and Krakhuna.

Brand History

Marani - Baghdati Estates - was founded in 1923 by my grandfather. The brand started participating in new wine festivals in 2015 and has been a member of the Natural Wine Association since 2017. The vineyard has been growing according to natural criteria since 2009. Imer white wine, as well as Imer pink and Imer red wine are poured into the churi. No sulfur is added to the wine, the wine is not filtered. And 5 varieties of Imerul grapes are used (Tsolikouri, Tsitska, Krakhuna, Otskhanuri Safere, Dzelshavi, and Mgaloblishvili in the future). 1500 bottles are produced per year. Rosé and red wines are aged in stainless steel tanks using the classic method, while white wine is aged in a vat - the same as a pitcher - using the traditional Imerian method.
