Brand History

Baia's Wine is a small family winery in the village of Obča that is adding new life and energy to the winemaking scene. Most of their wines are made in pitcher and some in stainless steel barrel. The Baia family has been producing wine for more than three generations and the brand is now a member of the Natural Wine Association. Baia wine is located in the western part of Georgia, near the Black Sea. The Caucasus Mountains to the north trap the humid sea air, making it an ideal environment for winemaking.

History Of The Winemaker

The founder of "Baya Wine" is Baya Abuladze. Most of the years of his life are related to his native village, vine and wine. His love for winemaking and viticulture comes from his ancestors - his grandfather Bondo Gvaladze is a famous winegrower. The Baya family has about 4,000 Tsolikouri and Tsitski vines, mostly Akhalsheni. Maintaining a vineyard and getting a bountiful harvest depends on many factors: weather, pesticides, exact observance of harvest times. The work of a viticulturist is quite laborious, but the work done with family members is pleasant and fun. He knows that if he does not take care of each root vine at the right time, caress it, beautify it - he will be upset and his work will be in vain. In 2015, the family, on the initiative of Baia, won a grant for the "Produce in Georgia" project. With the 5,000 GEL won, Baia bought wine bottling tools and bottled the first bottle of "Baya wine" on December 22, 2015. "Baya wine" took part in the event held in Georgia. He participated in many wine festivals and events and received approval. In June 2016, he won a silver medal at the wine festival held in Dusseldorf, Germany. Baia's love for vines and wine led him to the Georgian Farmers' Association. Through Mrs. Nino Zambakhidze, he met people who are thinking about reviving and strengthening Georgian villages. Among them There are many young farmers and with this team, Baya is planning the future of the strong Georgian village of tomorrow.
