Alice Rosenbaum was born on January 2, 1905 in St. Petersburg in the family of a successful Jewish pharmacist, however, after the October Revolution of 1917, the Rosenbaums were deprived of their property. In 1921-24, he studied social pedagogy at Petrograd University. In those first years of the communist regime, the Rosenbaums were oppressed in every way as "bourgeois elements" and the family was almost starving. In 1926, Alice received a US visa and managed to immigrate. At first he lived in Chicago, and then he settled in Hollywood, where he supported himself with various small jobs. In the 1930s, Alice Rosenbaum - Ayn Rand - wrote several screenplays and her first novel "We Live", in which she depicted the reality of the first years of the Soviet Union. The novel was a failure in the US, although the European editions sold well, and two films were even made in Mussolini's Italy without the author's permission. In 1943, the novel "The Source" was published, which brought Ayn Rand success and financial prosperity. In the following years, the writer was involved in political life, took part in various anti-communist activities and wrote the main literary work of his life - "Atlantis opened its shoulders". The book was published in 1957 and became a huge success. In the following years, Ayn Rand created non-fiction works in which she gave formal form to the philosophy of Objectivism that she had already formulated in her fiction. The characters of Ayn Rand's novels live by the ideas of Objectivism and formulate its basic postulates. Anti-communism is one of the cornerstones of Ayn Rand's political philosophy. This is why Ayn Rand's books were strictly banned during the Soviet regime - even the most intelligent dissidents never heard of them, while the rest of the world sold them by the millions. According to one of the polls, "Atlantic Shrugged" took the second place among the books that had a decisive influence on the personal lives of Americans. It is only behind the Bible. Ayn Rand's ideas have had a strong influence on right-wing political parties, and especially on libertarians. Many top-managers of large corporations name the novel "Atlanta Shrugged" as their desk book. The writer had the greatest impact on ordinary people around the world, who believed in themselves, developed their skills and achieved the best results.
