Winery company "Alafiani " was founded in 2014, however, before becoming a company, its founders had 20 years of experience in bottling wine. In 2010-11, new barrels were added to the cellar, a small vineyard was purchased, on which 60% white (Rkatsiteli and Green Kakhuri) and 40% Saferavi grapes are grown. Alafian vineyard is located in the village of Vazisuban, Gurjaani district - in the famous Alafian mountains, about 550 meters above sea level, the name of the company is derived from this toponym. They also have at their disposal a vineyard belonging to friends in the Kartli area, namely near the village of Okam in the Kaspi district, where they grow such endemic varieties of red wine grapes as Tavkveri and Shavkapito. It is worth noting the fact that chemicals have not been used to poison vines in these vineyards for 4 years. The main goal of the brand is not to produce a large amount of wine, but to provide the customer with a quality product.

History Of The Winemaker

One of the main winemakers of "Alafiani" is Merab Mirtskhulava. He started making wine in 1993, and in 1997, together with two friends, he renovated an old cellar in the village of Vazisubani, Gurjaani region, and started making Kvevari wine. In 2010, Merab Mirtskhulava and his friends bought vineyards in Kartli and Kakheti, they set organic viticulture-winemaking as their direction, and these factors led to the idea of establishing a winery in 2011. It was this year that their own harvest settled in their pitchers for the first time, and then "Alafiani" LLC was established.
