People use many electronic devices, all of which need batteries. There are several types of replaceable elements.
What types of batteries are there?
- Zinc batteries (PR or ZA) power hearing aids. They have an extended service life - up to 30 days (after activation), do not contain mercury, and do not leak. Oxygen is used as the cathode, and zinc powder is used as the anode. They are characterized by high energy intensity and uniform charge return throughout their use. This means you don't need to adjust your hearing aid's volume constantly.
- Lithium batteries have the highest energy density. They do not deteriorate at high and low temperatures, have an extended service life, and can be stored for a long time. Batteries should be used with electronic devices like cameras, flashlights, interactive children's toys, and portable speakers. They do not leak and weigh little, are suitable for working in the cold, and need to be replaced quickly.
- Lithium Manganese Dioxide batteries are called "Li-MnO2". Such batteries last ten years, and their self-discharge does not exceed 1% per year. They have high power consumption and can be operated in the temperature range from -20 to +60 °C. They are used to finish devices with low energy consumption: gas and water meters, watches, and automotive electronics.
- Lithium thionyl chloride (ER) batteries are high-performance batteries with high capacity and low self-discharge current. They operate critical devices such as alarms, storage devices, and medical devices.
Electronics equipped with lithium batteries can operate for up to 10 years without battery changes.
- Alkaline batteries (LR) have a shelf life of 5 years. They are characterized by a minimum discharge speed and high performance. Such batteries should be used in devices with moderate loads - control panels, night lamps, clocks, and radios. They dislike cold temperatures, so you should not use them in the cold. Under such conditions, they will lose power and discharge quickly.
Alkaline batteries should not be disposed of with regular waste. They contain toxic components and require separate disposal.
- Silver-zinc batteries have excellent energy density, capacity, and voltage stability. The average life of such products is 2-4 years. Their main and only drawback is their high price. Therefore, such batteries are used where compact batteries with high environmental safety are needed: watches, motherboards, keys, laser pointers, mobile phone holders, and souvenirs.
After some time, battery replacement may also be required for top-brand mobiles and other expensive devices. However, you can always find a suitable item.
